Neardental Gibraltar

PERSONAL WORK

For this illustration I was inspired by the investigations of the Gorham and Vanguard caves by the archaeologist Clive Finlayaison located on the Rock of Gibraltar. I have recreated a scene from 40,000 years ago, it looked very different than it is today. The sea level was 120 meters below where it is today, the shore was about 5 kilometers out to sea, the Neanderthals hunted and fished in these plains mollusks, fish, turtles, birds and other mammals.
